The Horry Georgetown Home Builders Association is pleased to present the 2013 Home Improvement & Outdoor Living Show to be held September 27-29, 2013 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. More than 200 Exhibitors will showcase their products and services; everything for small projects such as painting and new flooring, doors, and windows, energy conserving products, hurricane protection products, new kitchens and bathrooms, as well as, Universal Design and “aging-in-place” makeovers. People are staying in their homes longer so it makes sense for them to improve the quality of their life by improving their home – inside and out.
Professionals in home improvement, remodeling, construction, outdoor living and related industry needs will all be under one roof for three days. This is a great opportunity for people to have a face-to-face chat with no appointment necessary.
Special Event: Trick AND Treat
This year’s special events include Trick AND Treat; sponsored by Easy Radio, benefiting Coastal Animal Rescue. Listeners have been asked to send in a 30-second video of their dog doing a trick. Easy will select the top ten (10) entries for a live competition at the show on Sunday at 2 pm. Diane DeVaughn Stokes will emcee this exciting event.
Special Event: Farmers Marketplace
Clemson Extension is sponsoring the Farmers marketplace featuring 12 vendors from the Waccamaw Market. In addition to some fresh foods, “value-added” items will be available for purchase such as goat’s milk, cheese and soap, local honey, gourd art, local grown jams, jellies and juice. Blake Langford also remarked Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer seasonal gardening questions. The Extension is also introducing the “Eat Well Pledge Campaign,” encouraging people to eat locally grown fruits and vegetables.
Friday and Saturday workshop speakers include Pete Gerace and Kris Reynolds of Inlet Culinary Garden in Murrells Inlet, SC. Gerace will talk about fall and winter veggie gardening; Reynolds will speak on preparing herb gardens for fall and winter. Attendees will learn about fall gardening as well as be able to purchase herbs for winter container gardens.
Live Cooking Demos & Food Tasting
The Myrtle Beach Chapter of the American Culinary Federation will create a local hometown presence with a live demo cooking area complete with food tastings from local chefs and restaurants. A pumpkin display sponsored by A&A Produce will feature a pumpkin carving competition by culinary students. Attendees will also be able to connect with a variety of local farmers and producers through The Local Table – an online Farmers Market; eat local and support those that value sustainable, organic and humane farming practices. Get a sneak peek at the artist’s rendering of the new Culinary Arts Center to be built at the Grand Strand Campus of Horry Georgetown Technical College; and meet some of the current students.
Arts and Crafts
Continuing a long history of supporting local artists, the Home Improvement & Outdoor Living Show is proud to have Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild exhibitors. Jackie Stacharowski will be displaying her paintings; Sharon Sorrels will display her jewelry and paintings. Other artists and crafters will also be present to demonstrate and share their art.
Sponsors of the 2013 Home Improvement & Outdoor Living Show are Santee Cooper, The Sun News, Easy Radio and WBTW – TV 13. Be sure to stop by their booths and say thank you for helping create a wonderful showcase. The show is Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28 from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 11 am to 5 pm at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
